Profile
Paul joined Sheen Stickland in 2002 and is a partner based predominately in the Chichester office. The focus of his work is the range of advice offered to the firm's charity and voluntary sector clients. This advice includes not only the statutory audit and accounts compliance work but also specific advice to charities, including taxation, governance, risks and reserves and trustee roles and responsibilities. Charities increasingly have to take a more commercial and business-like approach to their activities, and Paul's strong background with corporate clients enables him to provide valuable advice and support. He also speaks to the sector at seminars, and gives training sessions tailored to individual clients. In 2008 he gained the Diploma in Charity Accounting which was awarded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
In addition to the Charity Group, Paul has a range of corporate and non-corporate clients providing audit, accounts, tax and specialist business advice.
Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 having trained with BDO Binder Hamlyn in their London and Bristol offices where he was promoted to Audit Manager before leaving in 1990 to join an 11 partner firm of Chartered Accountants based in Bristol. He became the Audit Partner for the firm in 1992 and whilst there focused largely on owner managed businesses and developing the corporate finance arm of the practice.
Paul lives in Emsworth, Hampshire and is married with 2 children. He is Chair of Governors at Emsworth Primary School and a trustee of three charities. He also is a member of the committee of the Emsworth Town Partnership.
