Having joined the firm in 2001, Philip became a partner in March 2003.  He combines a calm, flexible outlook with a dynamic and positive approach to solving complex problems, always striving to achieve the best possible outcome.  His strengths lie in his exciting balance of excellent business acumen, financial expertise and hands-on technical know-how.

During his time with the firm, Philip has assisted clients with solutions to everything from small queries on day-to-day issues, to assisting a taxpayer’s representative before the Special Commissioners and supporting him in a claim for negligence against his previous advisors.  Whilst he prefers to help clients to minimise their tax liabilities with timely advice, he has also had numerous successes when seeking to achieve a suitable outcome where disputes have arisen with HM Revenue and Customs.

Awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Strathclyde, Philip began his accounting career with Roffe Swayne Chartered Accountants, where he was able to work with a wide range of clients.  He left the practice in 1993 to work as Head of Finance and Company Secretary for United Agricultural Twines, a major merchant distributor of agricultural crop packaging products with a turnover of. £14m, based in Alton. In this role he gained valuable commercial experience which enables him to fully appreciate and identify with his clients' accountancy, taxation and other business requirements.

Whilst he is based in the Alton Office, Philip's client base is spread over a wide geographical area. The nature of his work means he regularly travels to a client's home or place of business. He will also travel to the Chichester Office when this is more convenient for a local client.

Married with three children, Philip is an External Governor with Alton College, Chairman of Alton Trampoline Club and a qualified trampoline judge.  A food enthusiast, he loves to dine and entertain whenever possible.
